John Nelson conducts Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust in Strasbourg

April 23, 2019

Following on from the success of conductor John Nelson’s acclaimed recording of Berlioz’s Les Troyens, Nelson returns to Strasbourg with the same stellar cast for two performances of La Damnation de Faust (25 and 26 April).

Nelson will once again conduct the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg and a star-studded vocal cast, including Joyce DiDonato (mezzo-soprano) and Michael Spyres (tenor), returning to the Palais de la musique et des congrès for the next installation in this momentous series, honouring the work of Hector Berlioz on the 150th anniversary of his death.

The concert will be recorded for Warner Classics and follows a celebrated performance of Berlioz’s Requiem at St Paul’s Cathedral in London last month.
