John Nelson returns to the Aspen Music Festival

John Nelson returns to the Aspen Music Festival on 18 August, to conduct a varied programme of works by Vaughan Williams, Shostakovich, Roussel and Kodály. The opening piece, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, is followed by a performance of Shostakovich’s second cello concerto, with soloist Alisa Weilerstein. The concert closes with two dance works: Symphonic Fragments from Le festin de l’araignée by Roussel and Kodály’s Dances of Galánta, with their captivating Hungarian folk melodies.
