Knight Classical Announces Collaboration with Legendary Flautist Sir James Galway
Knight Classical is proud to announce an exciting new collaboration with Sir James Galway, one of the most iconic figures in classical music. Renowned as the supreme interpreter of the classical flute repertoire, Sir James has captivated audiences worldwide with his masterful artistry, dynamic performances, and tireless dedication to music education over the course of a career spanning more than six decades.
Having previously managed Sir James Galway’s distinguished performance career and worldwide general management, Alexandra Knight and her team at Knight Classical are now partnering with the legendary flautist and his wife, Lady Jeanne Galway, on a series of special projects, events, and media productions designed to celebrate his extraordinary musical legacy for years to come.
In recent years, the Knight Classical team produced the acclaimed profile film Sir James Galway: Living Legend of the Flute, alongside a collection of live performance videos showcasing his inimitable virtuosity. Now, the company is working on developing a major documentary chronicling Sir James’ extraordinary career and musical insights, producing celebratory gala events in his honour, and stewarding the development of significant legacy projects – such as the display of the Galway archives, and various education initiatives. These projects will offer an intimate glimpse into the life and craft of one of the most compelling artists of the last 60 years, ensuring that his influence continues to resonate for years to come.
A musician of immense versatility, Sir James Galway’s expressive interpretations of the flute literature span an extensive range of genres, from classical masterworks to contemporary commissions. His collaborations have included celebrated film soundtracks such as The Lord of the Rings, as well as projects with legendary artists including Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Joni Mitchell, and Sir Elton John. With over 30 million albums sold globally across nearly 100 recordings, he remains one of the most influential and beloved figures in music today.
“We are honoured to be working with Sir James and Lady Galway on such a special series of projects”, said Alexandra Knight, Founder & CEO of Knight Classical. “Sir James’ artistry and diverse contribution to the wider musical landscape is virtually unparalleled – as is his tireless commitment to music education – and it is a true privilege to be entrusted with further cementing his exceptional legacy. Our goal is not only to celebrate his enduring impact on the music & entertainment industry, the catalogue of flute literature, and of course the instrument itself – but also to ensure that Sir James’ influence and artistic contributions continue to inspire future generations of musicians and audiences alike, remaining at the forefront of hearts and minds for years to come”.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Knight Classical”, said Sir James & Lady Galway. “From the start, Alexandra and her team have shown a unique understanding of Sir James’ vision as a musician going in to his 85th year, with a deep respect for his musical life and legacy. Alexandra’s approach is refreshingly personal and forward-thinking, and we are excited about the creative possibilities this collaboration will bring. We look forward to sharing the projects ahead and connecting with even more music lovers around the world.”
Through this collaboration, Knight Classical continues its mission to ensure that the rich heritage of classical music continues to thrive in a contemporary world.
