ICA sign Turkish conductor Cem Mansur for General Management
ICA are delighted to welcome Turkish conductor Cem Mansur to their roster for worldwide General Management. Originally educated in London, he was awarded the Ricordi Conducting Prize at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and then went on to study with Leonard Bernstein at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. He was Music Director of the Istanbul State Opera for eight years, and is now the Founder & Music Director of the Turkish National Youth Orchestra, which – under his direction – continues to grow in international profile and esteem, with performances at such prestigious venues as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Konzerthaus Berlin, BOZAR, Beethovenfest Bonn and the Ravello Festival.
Widely recognised for his extensive repertoire and the creativity of his programming, he enjoys a strong relationship with Arvo Pärt: he gave the European premiere of Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No.4, and the world premiere of Pärt’s Veni Creator. Mansur has frequent guest engagements at the Mariinsky Theater where, among other operas, he conducted the company’s first ever performance of Madame Butterfly, and his guest conducting engagements include the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, and the London Mozart Players.
